Tips For Celebrating Safely with Firework

Fireworks can always brighten up your special events, literally and figuratively. Celebrations are not good enough without them. However, keep in mind that fireworks are two also associated with two things: fire, as you can tell from its name and explosion. These two things can cause quite a damage, which is not at all suitable with special events and celebrations, right? So, if you decide to use fireworks as a part of the celebration, make sure that you use them properly.

While there are many different types of fireworks and each one of them have their own instructions of usage, in this article we are going to take Roman candle as an example and see what some tips on using them safely are. Most of these tips will be useful for other types of fireworks, too and some of them will be unique for roman candles. We chose particularly this type, because it’s one of the most commonly used.

  • Safety is the number one priority: always remember this is an important thing. As you use fireworks several times, it may seem to you that nothing can go wrong. But do not play with fire. Always follow the instructions, keep kids away from fireworks and celebrate safely.
  • Choose the right space: clear and open space is a must for every firework setup preparation. Roman candles can be used in considerably small spaces, but it still has to be clear and open. Make sure that things that can potentially light up are not in the space, such as trees, for example.
  • Keep the distance: the right setup is an essential thing is safety. Do not hold the roman candle in your hands, you have to set it into the ground or sand. Fuse end should be pointing down with 60-degree angle. 100 feet is a recommended distance for you and your audience in case of roman candle.
  • Be prepared for emergencies: keeping safety norms is never too much. Even if you are following all the instructions and you are sure nothing bad can possibly happen, still, be prepared. What if something goes wrong? Always keep things like fire extinguisher, hose and water close, just in case. At the same time, keep things that easily fire up away from the place of firework usage, for example, alcohol.
  • Be equipped: when you are lighting up the firework, you are basically practicing chemistry. Do you remember what schoolkids wear during chemistry lessons? Safety glasses and gloves. And that’s exactly what you should do when using fireworks.

Follow these simple rules: keep the firework in the package until you use them; keep them in a dry place; do not try re-using them; do not take them apart in case the firework has several pieces; always point the roman candle towards the sky; do not place anything over the candle.

If you follow all these tips, we guarantee, your celebration will go just as planned.
